Consequences Of Tinkering

There’s little in the world that is more frustrating than being in the middle of surgery on tech, when the proper tool simply *isn’t* available.

How in the world am I supposed to cannibalize the toys I find on the side of the streets without the proper gear?

I just want a soldering iron for the next time I’m elbow-deep in circuit boards at one in the morning. Is that too much to ask?

Seriously. My kingdom for a soldering iron.

(Alas. I have no kingdom, so it’s kind of a moot point. But, whatever. The sentiment stands!)

  1. YES THIS.

Apparently 3ds boards and their wifi chips are not the best connection – nearly all will fall off at some point, requiring the 3ds to be sent in (at a steep price) so Nintendo can re-fasten the chip.

Yeah right. All it takes is opening the thing, pulling the chip off and re-seating it. BUT I DON’T HAVE A SMALL ENOUGH SCREW DRIVER.

The DS will return an error and shut down the moment I turn on internet. So frustrating.

Apparently seagate makes seriously shit cords for their hard drives. Like, one in five is faulty, but most people just figure they screwed up their drive, because faulty cords aren’t something most folks look for.

      Dear tech companies,
Please just try making better stuff.

      • I’m going to make a time machine and go back in time twenty-five years ago, then kidnap Nintendo’s devs and execs. Then I’m going to take them back to the future, lock them in a room, and force them to design and construct every electronic appliance forevermore.

Cause really. The NES is haaaard core.
